The Experiment - Breaking A Social Norm

The social norm I choose to break is conversations. I broke the norm by singing my conversations, instead of normally speaking it. In this case, I merely kept it small, keeping it to my sister and my neighbours.

With my sister, for a day, I only sang conversations with her. Even simple sentences such as, “Pass the ketchup”, were done in sing-songy way. With my neighbours, what I did was simply sing my greetings to them. In fact, I said good morning or evening to them to the tune of Happy Birthday. I even tried with the cashier at the nearby 7-Eleven, when nobody else was around.

The reaction was near unanimous. My neighbours gave me a weirded-out look, as did the cashier. My sister, who bore the brunt of my experiment, threatened to “smack my head off” if I didn’t stop.

Honestly, I was split two ways about my feelings about this experiment. On the one hand, I kind of enjoyed messing around with them. I was even tempted to not just sing it quietly, but do so loudly and dramatically, Broadway style. But the other, more rational side quickly considered this silly, and this side made me feel more embarrassed than anything.

The norm, of course, is to speak clearly, in a way that would make your point understood. Singing your conversations out simply serves as an annoying distraction. I did all this in a safe environment. Had I did it in a less forgiving one, I would most definitely have been instantly hated.

Bella started going to Forks for only a few weeks when she was a young teen because she did not like it there. When Renee married Phil, Bella felt she was holding her mom back from being able to travel with her baseball playing husband so she decided to move to Forks to live with Charlie so her mom could be happy.
she met and fell deeply in love with Edward Cullen. After discovering Edwards and his families secret, she decided to stick with him as they grow ever more attached to one another. Bella, being known to attract disasters, constantly keeps Edward busy saving her life from day to day events.

Jacob Black is of the Quileute Tribe of Native Americans in La Push, Washington. His father is Billy Black. His mother is said to have died in a car accident. The tribal stories state the Quileutes are decendent from wolves. Jacob is a mechanical person and over the couse of the series builds a Voltswagon Rabbit and two motorcycles.

Jacob meets Bella Swan on La Push beach. Bella feigns interest in Jacob to hear the history of the Cold Ones and the Cullen family. Jacob becomes infatuated with Bella who later begins to date Edward Cullen. When Edward breaks up with her, Bella asks Jacob to build her a motorcycle. Over the course of their time together, Jacobs interest in Bella grows.Shortly after this, Jacob "phases" into a werewolf. The Quileute werewolves sole purpose is to protect the people of La Push from vampires. Jacob protects Bella from multiple dangers over the course of New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn

Story inspired by.......

Adam, Clyde and Lia are schoolmates, they decide to meet up to work on a project over coffee at Starbucks.

Adam and Clyde met up first as they know Lia will always be late. They settled on a spot and have small talks while waiting for Lia.

Meanwhile Lia is still at home dressing and dolling up to meet the boys.

Adam and Clyde at Starbucks were being boys and checking out for girls walking along when they notice a particularly sexy lady with tight skirt and high-heels

"Wohh shes hot man" said Adam.

Clyde scans her from top to toe and notice something significant about her.

"Have you ever wondered how these girls manage to walk in those high shoes" said Clyde. "I dont know man" replied Adam

The conversation moves on to a funnier note. Adam and Clyde began to make up funny incidents what they think would happen if a girl wear such high heels.

"First she will take her own sweet time starring at her millions of shoes, choosing what pair of heels to wear" Said Adam

Lia is still at home choosing a pair of shoes to wear and she make do with a 5inch heels since she has plan for a night out with some girlfriends afterwards.

"She checks herself out in the mirror before going out, all doll out she parade herself out and make her way down via stairs and at the very 1st step she stumble" Adam chuckle

Lia checks herself before going out and decide to take the stairs down and at the very first step she stumble. She pick herself up immediately looking left and right making sure no one saw her. Brushing away dirt on her dress and continue walking.

"Poor girl" laugh Clyde

"Next she will walk to the bus stop, but before she could even reach the bus stop, a car drive right next to her splashing puddle water on her" CLyde burst "Dont have time to run with those heels!"

Lia walk towards the bus stop as slowly as she could because it was raining previously. She don't want puddle of mud water to get to her shoes when suddenly alone the road a car drove fast pass her splashing a pool of muddy water on her. Lia was enraged

"Finally she board the bus" chuckle Adam "But then! a mother and a baby sat beside her not too long later her child became bus sick and starts to vomit on the floor next to her" "chided Adam

Lia board the bus cold and wet sat at the far end of the bus drying herself u. Few minutes later a mother and a child sat beside her. Lia notice something strange about the child. The child appeared sick and true enough the child vomited on the floor right next to her and her shoes were stained. By this time Lia realise something is not right with her luck that day.

Adam and Clyde were laughing imagining the situation.

"She got down the bus and a dog chase her"

Yes as you all might guess, Lia was chase by a dog.

"Imagine running around frantic on high heels!" Exclaim Clyde

The boys went on and on with their high heels intuition by the time Lia was already mess up and her left heels were broken and finally she arrive

CLyde and Adam hysteric mode " Eh Lia? What happen to you?!"

Mia is an average teenager studying in a polytechnic. She works part-time at MacDonalds earning five dollars an hour. Mia dont really need the money as her parents could afford her basic necessities like allowance food and transport, but she is quite a shopaholic and needs the extra income to fulfill her shopping desires.

One day Mia was walking along the corridor of her hdb flat when she stumble upon a piece of paper that looks like 4D slip. Out of curiosity she pick it up and look at the date and the draw date states today. Mia bought the slip of paper home without any hope of winning "why would anyone throw if it is the winning ticket" she puts it in on the coffee table and let it be. Few minutes later, her dad came home. Mia was in her bedroom when she suddenly hear her dad scream. She rushes out of her bedroom to see her dad holding the piece of 4D paper with trembling hands. Her dad uttered " Its the winning number! Its the winning number!" Mia was astound by her dads remarks and decide to check it personally. Indeed 1st price 10 million dollar!. " Dad we're rich! its a gift from the heaven!"

They both went to collect their price money and by then mom and little sister knew about it soon the whole neighborhood knew about their winning.

Days pass. Mia and family began living a wealthy lifestyle. Mia quit her job at MacDonalds and shop almost every single day. Her mom lavish on jewelry's , dad bought a new BMW and little sister doesn't really have any effect on her. She is after all to young to understand the value and power of money. And yes indeed money is powerful, it can get you up but it can also send you tumbling down. With lots of money, Mia parents quit their jobs as the think their money could last them a lifetime. Mia began to skip lessons and her grades are falling drastically. Mia spend most of her time in shopping malls indulging in luxurious goods and wining and dining at expensive hotels without realizing that their money is decreasing day by day.

Mia parents became arrogant as they knew they are rich. They look down on their neighbors and brag that they will leave this filthy pigeon hole and move to a 3 story bungalow. Mia and her parents began to have enemies. Many neighbors hated them because of the way they acted, bossy and cocky. Months pass, Mia and family began to realize their money are slowly decreasing to non. They began to argue about finance blaming each other for not controlling the situation. Till a point that they don't even have money to buy rice because non of them are employed. They resorted to borrowing money and food stuffs from the neighbors. Some are willing to help but some shutting doors right on their face. Every night they quarrel over the same matter over and over again. Mia look at the condition of her family, her parents were shouting, vases are being thrown against the wall. Mia couldn't take i she cover her ears shuts her eyes and screech as loud as she could.

Suddenly all went quite. She open her eyes to see herself back at the corridor when she 1st saw the slip of 4D paper. She began to get confuse. She pick up the slip of paper and was flabbergasted to see the same slip of paper she found the other day. Check her watch to see the date and time and realize she went back in time to the day she won the money. Mia stare at the slip of paper long enough, look across and saw an old ragged women, her neighbor who lives alone at end of the corridor and walk towards her. " Ah Mah today is your lucky day, use it wisely"

Three women smirking enviously as he takes her by the hand and walks of into the room with the newest and youngest of them all. Rohaya, Aisha, Siti and Nurul all have something in common, they all share the same husbands and are all living under one roof. In Islam man are permitted to polygamy marrying up to four wives if able, following the foot steps of the Prophet Muhammad. Rohaya, or better known as Dr Rohaya is the 1st wives of Ismail. Rohaya and Ismail have been married for almost 15 years but have no children. She couldnt bare any children even after years of trying. Ismail propose to marry a second wife reason being he wants a son. She never agreed to polygamy initially and reluctant to give consent but after being threaten by Ismail that he will leave Rohaya succumb to her fate and agreed. There after Ismail got married again but he keeps on getting daughters so her married again and he married again.

Rohaya never get the love and attention as much as the younger wives. In fact all the other wives have daughters to be kept busy with. Rohaya hated the other wives because they steal her husband away from her. She spend her time cooping herself in a room. Occasionally, Ismail will spend a night in her bedroom but being older and less sexier Ismail seems to lost the desire to sleep with her. Rohaya got depressed day after day and always thinking why is doesn't her husband want to make love with her.Her mind become baffled and clouded with all the whys and what should she do. She became mentally unsound and began to come out outrages attempts and plans on how to lure her husband back.

Months later, Rohaya manage to open a club called Obedient Wives Club teaching about her ideology on polygamy and how to treat your husband. Astoundingly, the club manage to grab a lot of attention and many followers. One a her ideologies,

"to be a prostitute or sex slaves to your husband"

Where she got the idea from? she sees Ismail younger wives as prostitutes and sex slaves and assume men likes to be treated to one

"wear sexy lingerie when u greet your husband when he come home from work"

Rohaya began to come out with more and more outrages concept to lure husbands. Ironically many people agreed. What they all dont know Rohaya is suffering and all that is thought are just fantasies and illusion created in her unsound mind. Years pass Rohaya never did what she thought others. Ismail never touch her ever since he didn't even bother the other three wives are doing well though. Rohaya still remain unhappy and depress, she still continues with her club teaching others about bizarre and unusual desires writing it down every night in a dimly lit room.

My Memorable Childhood

My name is Ili and i used to have a best friend name Ali. Me and Ali have been friends since the day we are born. My mom and Ali's mom, aunty Miah, often hang out under the void deck gossiping away while me and Ali play catching, hide and seek, roller-blade and we even run away far enough to climb trees, but we were caught once and i never dared climbing trees anymore. Basically we will never be seen apart ever single day. We even pinky promise that we will marry no one else and Ali promise a ring when he can afford it.

As years gone by we both start to enter our pre-teen years and we start being curious about our surroundings. One day i fell sick, i had the chicken pox and i couldn't go out to play. I was 12 so i was more cautious of my appearance. I couldn't let Ali see my current condition so i didn't even let him enter the house to visit me no matter how hard he persuaded. A week pass, i assume Ali gave up after not showing up at my house to visit so i tired calling him because i started to miss him but he wasn't at home most of the time.

My chicken pox started to heal and i was feeling so much better so my mom gave me the green light go out and play after weeks of staying at home. I was so excited,i tried calling Ali but his mom said he went out so i ran out grab my bicycle and start cycling around to look for him. After minutes i saw Ali playing with a group of boys. I ran up to him to give him a hug but he dodge me. I was confused, he started to raise his voice " go away i don't play with girls anymore". Initially i was angry and frustrated i wanted to hit him back but i was confused. I push him and he push me even harder till i fall, all of the boys started to laugh at me. My best friend isn't my friend anymore within minutes. I went home crying to my mom and she told me that we are both growing up and its wise if i were to find a girl as a friend instead. I took her advice and i didn't talk to Ali for a long time until our PSLE results day.

Ali came out from no where. He hand me a parcel with an address written on it. He was going to shift to a house nearer to his secondary school and also apologize for what he did and said he miss our friendship. I was still hurt by his doings so i took the parcel and throw it back to him and walk away. I never hear about him until im 21. His sister, Anis, manage to trace me down through facebook. We met for coffee and she handed me the parcel Ali tried to give me 9 years ago. Anis told me Ali died in a motorbike accident few months back. "Ali kept the parcel till this very day Ili, the day you rejected it he went home really sad and just wouldn't do anything".

I took the parcel to our old neighborhood where we spent most of our childhood together open it up and there contains a ring, A ring which he promise he would give some day.
